I have a craft show at my house on James Island, Charleston, SC., with 25-30 crafters. This year will
be my 33rd show. It all started about 30 years ago. I did Christmas and Easter shows for a few years
and now we just do the Christmas Holiday Show once a year.

 The show is in our house which was built in 1930 – on the water with 4 acres – so plenty of parking
spaces and great views (to keep the non-shopper happy).

 The first show had 7 crafters and besides me, the other 6 had never sold before. We had it early
November so that the crafters could take orders since they didn’t know how much inventory to make.
Things have changed a lot since then. We still have a few new crafters each year but they now make lots
of inventory and keep restocking during the show.

 We are a group of crafters who get together once a year for this show. One of the crafters, now
living in Asheville, NC has been with the show every year.

 The crafters set up their items several days before the show opens. The out-of-town crafters come
in the day before the show to set up.

 We don’t set up booths per crafter. We spread things out to give a more relaxed, natural feeling.

 The crafters are available to talk with customers and help with various jobs during the show.

 We have a cook doing food that can be taken out or eaten on site. We have had quesadillas,
shrimp & grits, barbecue, chicken salad, etc in previous years. There is room on the screen porch
to eat and relax.

 We have freshly baked breads – pumpkin and banana. We hope to add more food items to buy
and take.

 We have a large variety of crafts – pottery, jewelry (silver, beads, costume, etc), stain glass, knitted items,
painting (slate, wood, glasses, fabric, etc), gift bags, wood items (pens, bowls, boxes), children items,
stuffed animals, clothing items, purses, hats, Christmas tree decorations, wreaths, figurines, gift bags,
candles, etc.

 Every year there are some of the same crafters and some new ones. Customers say it is a “3 times around
show”. There is so much to see that it is good to go thru several times.

 We take cash, checks. and credit or debit cards.
